CWRU Law Alum Su He, who earned both her LLM and JD from our law school, was recently honored as one of Crain’s 40 Under 40 leaders.

When Daniel Leizerman entered law school, he learned one thing very quickly: studying textbooks was not his ideal method of learning.  “I wasn’t satisfied sitting in class and reading cases all day,” Leizerman laughs. “So I talked to my parents and they suggested reaching out to Legal Aid in Cleveland.”

A decade after Tanisha Anderson was killed after being restrained by Cleveland police during a mental health crisis, Case �鶹ӳ�� School of Law students are working to change local policy to honor her memory—and prevent such tragedies from happening again.

Before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the School of Law had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv (Shevchenko) and helped establish the School’s American Common Law Center. Since 2013, the Common Law Center has provided academic services at Shevchenko, including professional workshops.

Case �鶹ӳ�� law student Robert Read recently made an oral argument in front of the Ninth District Court of Appeals in Summit County, presenting a case for a client charged with criminal damaging of a window.

Corey Whetzel (LAW '24) recently won the American Society for Pharmacy Law’s (ASPL) Larry M. Simonsmeier Writing Award. He was selected for his paper “No Way FDA, Let States Lead the Way on Expanding the Prescriptive Authority of Pharmacists,” which was published in Health Matrix: Journal of Law Medicine this spring.

A native of Sierra Leone who enrolled in CWRU School of Law “because of its strong international law programs and excellent reputation,” George Shadrack Kamanda graduated from our Law School in 2022 while simultaneously earning a Master’s Degree in Public International Law from Oxford University in the U.K.

In October, professor Victor Flatt’s Environmental Law class was joined by Jay Pendergrass, the former Vice President and Current Senior Advisor to the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) in Washington, D.C. During his over 3 decades at the ELI, Pendergrass has helped tackle numerous environmental issues.
