First Amendment Clinical Fellow Sara Coulter recently argued and won a free speech case in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Launching in Fall 2022, the Environmental Law Clinic at Case �鶹ӳ�� School of Law will be an interdisciplinary clinic that addresses environmental law and policy problems on behalf of individual clients and organizations including environmental groups, nonprofits and community organizations.

The Case �鶹ӳ�� School of Law Jessup team—composed of 3L Michael Eckhart, 2L Sydney Warinner, 1L Will Baker and 1L Elise Manchester—went on a historic run at the National Championship rounds of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition from Friday, Feb. 25, to Sunday, Feb. 27.  

Maxwell Mehlman, Distinguished University Professor, Arthur E. Petersilge Professor of Law and co-director of the Law-Medicine Center at Case �鶹ӳ�� School of Law, was appointed bioethics reviewer for the Department of Defense Traumatic Brain Injury and Psychological Health Research Program.

New rankings in the Winter 2022 preLaw magazine place Case �鶹ӳ��’s School of Law as among the top schools in the nation for Trial Advocacy and International Law, with both receiving an "A+" grade.

The Black Law Student Association (BLSA) at Case �鶹ӳ�� School of Law is advancing two teams to the 2022 National BLSA Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition in Memphis, TN, in March, following outstanding performances at the Midwest qualifying rounds, which took place in St. Louis, MO, from Feb. 2–4.

After five intense rounds in the midwest regional competition, the Jonathan M. Ault Mock Trial Program at Case �鶹ӳ�� School of Law is advancing an unprecedented two teams to the National Championship round of the National Trial Competition.

Update: Case �鶹ӳ�� School of Law Co-Dean Michael Scharf will present an Amicus argument before the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague on Feb. 14 from 8:45–9:15 a.m. ET.

Case �鶹ӳ�� School of Law is hosting a diverse slate of conferences in spring 2022. Registration is now available for these events, which will explore critical issues in the areas of police discrimination, law-medicine, environmental law, the North American supply chain and the consumer right to repair high tech devices.

The School of Law at Case �鶹ӳ�� recently received grant support benefiting programs within the Social Justice Law Center and the Cox International Law Center.

Update:  On Feb. 1, 2022, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm CWRU School of Law alums Bridget Brennan (LAW '00) and Charles Esque Fleming (LAW '90) to become judges on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. (This story previously published on Sept. 30, 2021.)
