After the resignation of President Charles F. Thwing in 1921, James D. Williamson—a trustee of Western Reserve from 1905 until his death in 1935—served as acting president of Â鶹ӳ» until 1923.
Williamson was in command as the university began to plan and fund the move of the medical school from downtown Cleveland to the University Circle neighborhood.
